We are thrilled to announce that through our partnership with the Great River Shakespeare Festival, SYT is once again able to offer an exclusive weekend experience for SYT students and alumni.
This weekend trip includes transportation to and from Winona and chaperoned overnight lodging.
Soak up a weekend jam-packed with workshops, master classes, performances, and talkbacks, including four GRSF shows, a private event exclusively for SYT students, and an opportunity to meet and talk with GRSF artists.

DEATH BY SHAKESPEARE
May 14 - 30 | Tu, Th | 6pm - 8pm | $160
Learn how to safely and convincingly take a dagger to the heart, die by poison and confront ultimate betrayal in this hybrid workshop of hair-raising stage combat and heartbreaking Shakespearean death scenes.
Taught by veteran Twin Cities fight director Annie Enneking and SYT artistic director Logan Verdoorn.
No prior theatre or acting experience is necessary! This two week workshop is an excellent introduction to Shakespeare, with a fun and physical twist! Plus, there will be swords. Did we mention there will be swords?
THE SYT SUMMER ENSEMBLE
Summer Intensive | June 10 - July 28
Join the SYT Summer Ensemble as we tackle Shakespeare’s comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona, opening July 18th! Rehearsals: June 10 - July 17.
SYT is currently accepting new students ages 12 - 19 for the 2019 Summer Ensemble! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org subject line: Summer Ensemble Audition to schedule an audition or find out more about the Summer Ensemble. No prior performance experience is necessary!
Summer Ensemble students will study and strengthen core classical acting techniques, including:
voice and breath work to strengthen the physical connections between the actor and the text
movement work, including Viewpoints and stage combat with trained instructors
Original Practices text work using the text from Shakespeare’s First Folio
in-depth analysis of Shakespeare’s verse; poetic techniques including anthesis, assonance, metaphor, and iambic pentameter will be studied and applied in peformance
focus on the actor’s creative voice in the rehearsal room; development of each student’s personal interpretation of the text and its relevance in 2019
